So if you are thinking about selling there are a few things you should concentrate on when preparing. Buyers tend to want to buy homes that are in move-in condition. Typically, homes that are well maintained and priced right will sell quickly.
Your home maybe totally remodeled on the inside, but lack curb appeal on the outside. This could potential limit the number of buyers you can actually get in the door. Make sure your lawn is well manicured. Remove dead plants, and spruce up the garden. Remember to pick up toys, garbage cans, and hoses. Clean your windows. Paint the outside of the home, if necessary. Make your home look desirable.
It is hard sometimes when you live in the home to see things as potential buyers may. Every room should be spic and span clean. Remember to declutter your home as well. This will give your home a larger look.
Create a bright and airy feeling in your home's entry way. Use a large wattage light bulb to increase the light.
Go over your living room and be sure to create a pleasant atmosphere. If you have to paint or replace carpet remember to keep it neutral.
Rearrange or remove furniture to make your rooms look more spacious. Too much furniture and too many knick-knacks make rooms look cluttered and small. One or two decorative items per surface are plenty, so pack the rest away.
These rooms should sparkle! Clear off counters, and clean all appliances and fixtures. Scrub the floors and walls. Re-caulk tubs and showers. Clean these rooms thoroughly, and be sure they smell fresh.
Take those things to Goodwill that you'll have to discard anyway when you move. Organize shelves and straighten shoes. Be sure that sliding doors operate smoothly and knobs on drawers are secure.
Do everything you can to brighten the interior. Replace wallpaper with white or off-white paint, and repaint shabby or dark walls. Open the blinds, and replace broken windows and window seals. Always maintain a comfortable temperature inside the house, even if you are away for an extended period of time.
